What you’ll do:
Ensure the zero-defect philosophy by supporting production processes, planning for defect prevention, maintaining discipline in quality systems and standards, cell documentation, problem analysis and resolution, and process changes that affect product quality. Provide support to the AMG Leader, Process Quality Supervisor, and Quality Manager to meet customer requirements, and act immediately as part of multidisciplinary teams to address customer complaints and internal issues. The Quality Engineer provides support to the multifunctional team in quality tools to ensure that products manufactured across different processes meet customer requirements, while achieving team objectives related to scrap, nonconforming events, etc. Through the execution of the activities described in this job description, contribution will be made toward achieving the objectives established in the following indicators: OPI - Cat A OPI - DPMU OPI - Scrap OPI - Customer PPM OPI - NCEs T1-T2 OPI - RFIs T1-T2 Ensure that corrective actions meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation complies with Autoliv and customer requirements. Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality standards and protocols for processing materials into subassemblies or finished products. Collaborate with other engineering and manufacturing areas to ensure quality standards are established and maintained. Design and implement methods and procedures to inspect, test, and evaluate the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Design and specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. Establish the necessary controls for each operation to ensure product quality compliance. Analyze scrap reports and work with the AMG to establish actions that help reduce scrap for the most severe, frequent, and costly issues. Analyze parts and evaluate the severity of scrap issues reported by production lines. Escalate critical issues to management and initiate containment actions when necessary. Participate in line design workshops to contribute ideas and actions derived from past or potential issues, ensuring preventive controls are applied in new product launches. Participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA) and system/product/process/internal audits. Implement necessary changes to process documents such as DIS-(P3), visual aids (VA-P2), inspection instructions, verification and testing documents, audits, checklists, etc. Create Interim Inspection Instructions based on the control plan, AS412 Instructions (IIP), and ensure all documentation remains updated and aligned. Approve inspection instructions for Lot Acceptance Tests (LAT, audits, etc.) based on customer or Autoliv requirements. Monitor test results and reduce frequency when phase-change requirements are met. Lead the analysis of anomalies occurring in the laboratory, process, or product to determine root cause, follow up, and document corrective actions. Escalate critical issues to management and initiate containment when necessary. Document, communicate, and proactively implement lessons learned from other products, lines, or plants within the work area, and share them across internal areas. Actively participate in APDS projects starting from phase 4 and in PFMEA GSF audits for mass production. Update control plans and ensure quality documentation is always current. Verify that Run@Rate results, from a quality standpoint, meet the requirements established in AS007. Identify quality risks, analyze them, escalate to top management when necessary, and suggest corrective actions. Perform and document activities related to PPAP review and approval according to AS007. Lead quality problem resolution with the multifunctional team using the 8D methodology. Coordinate disposition and contain all suspect product when necessary. Actively participate in zero-defect and DPMU workshops. Understand and apply operational environmental controls relevant to the area. Understand and manage environmental aspects and impacts related to plant activities. Identify and report risks, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts in the workplace. Detect and participate in actions derived from quality, safety, health, and environmental systems. Ensure and support compliance with quality, environmental, and safety management system requirements (objectives, policies, legal requirements, etc.).
