What you’ll do:
Job Context Job Summary The Automation Engineer will be responsible for definition of equipment and related performance. This includes documenting equipment specifications, design and validation results. Support the approval of equipment during Machine Buy Off, validation builds, Run at Rate, etc. Strategic Context and Challenges The Automation Engineer will establish a robust evaluation and documentation of first equipment implementation to allow easy yokoten of Automation to other production cells locally and globally. Assure replication of equipment considers continuous improvement. Assure productivity levels are met or exceeded. Deliverables • Design release in PLM/PDM system consisting of Bill of Materials, 3D and 2D drawings of components and assembly, electrical schematics, pneumatic diagram, robot and PLC programs. • Documented results of successful Buy Off events with part production at rate with acceptable quality. Documents to be release in PLM/PDM system. • List of spare parts and recommended maintenance. Tasks and Responsibilities Core Responsibilities and Activities • Document equipment design and related performance. Manage changes with revisions documented and release to allow continuous improvement. • Support on-going improvement to Automation equipment. Evaluate results of ideas and compile summaries to make proposals for updates. Follow AS7 change management process and document modifications in PLM/PDM. Other Responsibilities • Provide feedback to the Automation Forum for projects in development and input regarding priorities of future projects. • Engage with Steering Wheel Product Line to improve alignment in Automation approach and vision. Build relationships with technical teams in other regions for regular yokoten and best practice sharing. • Provide feedback to Purchasing regarding supplier capabilities and performance to assess new business award. Identify supplier development opportunities to create ‘key supplier’ for strategic partnership for future success.
What is required:
• Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or related field. Problem Solving; Root Cause Analysis Familiar with robot programming (FANUC, Staubli, etc.) Basic level CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) Ability to read mechanical drawings, GD&T. Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics. Technical writing and presentations (documents and spoken) Basic statistics (standard deviation, tolerance capability, etc.) Design of Experiments (DOE) Knowledge of pokayoke Failure Mode and Effects Analysis Problem solving mindset Clear, sound decision making Sense of urgency Time Management and prioritization Customer Focus (AMG´s)
